Hydraulic supports serve as the critical support equipment at fully-mechanized coal mining faces, and their reliable operation relies on emulsion fluids (typically oil-in-water type) as the working medium. Dominated by water as the primary constituent (usually accounting for over 95% of the formulation), such emulsions exhibit poor lubricity, which readily triggers wear, corrosion and seal failure of internal hydraulic support components including columns, jacks and valve assemblies. Accordingly, incorporating lubricant additives for hydraulic support fluids into the emulsion is of vital significance.

『Micro Knowledge』The Core Function and Mechanism of Hydraulic Support Liquid Lubricant Additive

01
Lubricants and Anti-Wear Agents

This is the main component for achieving lubrication. They can form a protective film on the metal surface, reducing friction and wear.

02
Anti-Rust And Corrosion Inhibitor

Metal components used to protect the hydraulic support, to prevent corrosion by mine water.

03
Emulsifier / Coupling Agent

For emulsified oil products, they are responsible for evenly dispersing the oil in water to form a stable emulsion; for concentrated liquid products, they assist in the uniform and stable dissolution of various additives in water.

04
Anti-Hard Water Agent / Chelating Agent

This is the key to ensuring that the product can adapt to the water quality of different mines. They can "capture" the calcium and magnesium ions in the water and prevent them from reacting with other components in the formula to form precipitates (i.e., "soap precipitation").

05
Functional Auxiliary Agent

Including amine-based substances that regulate pH and maintain alkalinity, antibacterial agents that prevent microbial growth, and defoaming agents that eliminate bubbles, etc.

Core Function and Mechanism

Components such as columns and jacks of hydraulic supports operate under working conditions featuring reciprocating motion coupled with high-pressure loads. Metal friction pairs are prone to adhesive wear, abrasive wear and fatigue wear due to insufficient lubrication, resulting in seal failure or component scrappage.

The core function of lubricant additives is to form a protective film on metal surfaces via physical or chemical adsorption, eliminating direct metal-to-metal contact. Its specific mechanisms fall into two categories:

1

Physical Adsorption Membrane (Low Temperature / Low Loading Conditions)

Additive molecules (such as fatty acids) attach to the metal surface through polar groups, forming a multi-layer molecular film. When the friction pair moves relative to each other, "molecular sliding" occurs between the film layers, significantly reducing the friction coefficient.

2

Chemical Reaction Coating (For High-Temperature/High-Load Operating Conditions)

When the load is too high or the local temperature rises, the physical film breaks. Additives (such as compounds containing phosphorus, sulfur, and chlorine) react chemically with the metal surface to form chemical films such as sulfides and phosphides. This film has a higher hardness than the metal substrate but is lower than the abrasive particles. It can effectively resist adhesive wear and abrasive scratches.

Recommended Products

-Water Soluble Copper Corrosion Inhibitor KHC3042-

KHC3042 is a methyl benzotriazole derivative, soluble in water and ethylene glycol system, used as a metal deactivated agent. It can replace solid Benzotriazole and solid methyl benzotriazole, effectively protect yellow metal and prevent cobalt spillover. Its combination with the conventional carboxylate rust inhibitor can provide corrosion protection for a variety of metals.

All water based systems with PH>7: antifreeze (engine coolant), high water based hydraulic fluid (HFC), water/glycol hydraulic fluid (HFC), metal working fluid (emulsion and synthetic fluid), etc.

The recommended dosage is 0.1%-0.5%.

Easy to operate, suitable substitutes for benzotriazole and methyl benzotriazole.

Protect yellow metal and cobalt alloy from corrosion
